New MBP - Margaret Atwood at Books & Company Reception
Internationally renowned Canadian novelist, poet, literary critic and environmental activist Margaret Atwood will be guest speaker at a special presentation “Bulldozing the Mind: The Assault on Cultural and Rural Heritage”, 7.30pm, Wednesday, November 23, 2011 at Picton’s historic Regent Theatre. Ms Atwood will also be making an appearance, in advance, at a Books & Company reception,at 5:30 p.m.
Proceeds from the reception and Regent Theatre presentation will be used to support Al Purdy A-Frame Trust and Friends of East Lake. The AFrame Trust is dedicated to preserving and creating a
writers-in-residence program at the cottage built by celebrated Canadian poet Al Purdy and
his wife Eurithe, on Roblin Lake, in Ameliasburgh. The cottage was a destination for outstanding writers of the era, including Ms. Atwood.
